About Us
Who We Are?
- Our Vision:
A healthy, resilient, and empowered Zanzibar where all individuals live with dignity and access quality health and environmental services.
- Our Mission:
To improve the health, safety, and well-being of communities in Zanzibar through inclusive, rights-based, and sustainable interventions in health, nutrition, disaster preparedness and response, maternal and child care, and environmental sanitation.
- Our Story:
Zan Health was born out of a deep commitment to community well-being, public health equity, and sustainable development in Zanzibar. Founded by passionate health professionals, social innovators, and local changemakers, Zan Health emerged as a grassroots initiative to address the pressing health and environmental challenges facing our communities—particularly among youth, women, and underserved populations.
What began as a small team volunteering on health awareness campaigns has grown into a fully registered, non-profit organization leading impactful programs in health education, waste management, environmental sanitation, emergency response, and youth empowerment. At the heart of our mission is the belief that a healthier Zanzibar starts with informed communities, empowered individuals, and collaborative solutions.
Over the years, Zan Health has built strong partnerships with local government bodies, civil society, and community-based organizations. We’ve implemented wide-reaching initiatives such as community-based first aid training, environmental cleanup and recycling drives, and youth-led awareness campaigns. Our work is guided by data, compassion, and a vision of a healthier, more resilient Zanzibar.
Zan Health continues to innovate, lead, and inspire—turning everyday challenges into opportunities for growth, empowerment, and impact. We are not just a health organization. We are a movement for change.
